Today at The Rustic Cabin....

Well, check this out!!! It is like a highway going to the cabin now!!!  No more roots sticking up. Just smooth driving...... Oh so nice!!!! You will love it!!!

What a thrill to have our swimming hole back. Wow!!! It is lovely. Should you wish to pile up the rocks around the swimming hole, that will be just fine!!!! Thank you......

Looking up stream you can see the water level which is so much better than last year. Good swimming, good fishing, generally, just a really good time!!!!!!! Come and share the experience.....

Wow!!! A Hand Pump in the Cabin!!!

This is so exciting!!! There is now running water in the cabin!!! It takes two hands to pump it right now but my expectation is that it will get easier with more use. You may want to bring drinking water with you. We will get this water tested in the next few weeks and I'm thinking it will probably be fine to drink. We will let you know. Hope this won't take the Rustic out of the Cabin for you!!!

I went to the river today and should have taken a picture. We have our swimming hole back which we lost last year to high water. It just looks beautiful with many rocks showing and the water rushing by. Such a relaxing place to be!!!!!

New at The Rustic Cabin...

Here we have the new addition to the cabin in its place. It looks great!!! The cabin has had its spring cleaning and is already for this spring/summer guests. The good news is that the river appears to be a tad lower than last year at this time. We are hoping to get our swimming hole back!!!

Remember - rustic - no hydro or running water, oil lamps for light and we leave water in containers for you at the cabin. Privacy, quiet, relaxing and healing. If you are looking for a different experience, come and enjoy!!!! $110 a night for one or two people. Minimum of two nights. Contact Val by phone at 705 636-1679 or email vassheekey@bell.net   .

Look What I Found!!!!

I saw this in an antique store, actually it is an antique mall, here in Titusville and just had to have it for the cabin. We are heading home at the end of the month and then finding that special place of honour for it in the cabin!!!!

We had someone do some measures on the bridge last week to try and keep it from going down river in the spring thaw. Many of you know that last year the river was a lot higher than normal so when it froze at the beginning of winter it was already getting dangerously close to the bottom of the bridge structure. The cabin has received more than normal snow this winter and the thaw is starting. Going to be interesting at The Rustic Cabin this spring!!!!!

Many winter enthusiasts have enjoyed the cabin throughout the winter and we look forward to greeting you in the spring. Every season is unique and special at The Rustic Cabin. Come and experience the hush.........

Max

Max was born in Callendar on Aug.20, 2013 and came to live with us the first week of October.

We wondered if he would ever grow into his ears!!!

Max has enjoyed the play times with guest's dogs. He is very social. He loves people and other dogs.
He loves moles, squirrels and chipmunks in a different way!!!!

Our Latest Wild Life

Wild turkeys have been in our neighbourhood for years but we haven't had them here on our property until just recently. There are three of them, all females, huge and beautiful. They like to eat sunflower seeds from under our bird feeder and to drive |Max crazy. They seem to know when he is not outside and then are able to run at great speed to get away from him as he skids down the icy stairs to catch our Christmas dinner!!!

The other delight is a snowy owl. Ray has seen it twice. What a sight it must be with its massive wing span of about four feet. I so want to see it too but haven't had the honour yet!!!!

We also have lots of deer tracks around the house and cabin. It helps that our neighbours on each side of us feed the deer. We are on the route. Once more it is an event that causes Max to bark up a storm. I must say invisible fencing is very impressive!!!

Snow Already at The Rustic Cabin....

It seems so early for it to be looking like this outside!!!! Now you will need good winter tires and a 4x4 if possible to come to visit The Rustic Cabin. The lane way is now closed until next spring so your gear will have to be carried in or you can use our Quebec sleigh to pull it down. The wonderful cabin is even quieter, should that be possible, as the snow falls. Animal prints in the snow make it easier to detect what is sharing the land with you!!!

If you feel like an adventure email me now at vassheeekey@bell.net to check out the dates you have in mind. It is truly a fabulous destination for the "right" people, Hope to see you soon.
